The Woodlands

In the response to Home, these images are of a place I call home, where I live my hometown it is surrounded by woodland in the middle of nowhere, there’s a few shops and a couple of local pubs but the one thing I love about Home is the woodland, it is so peaceful to walk around, the tall trees swaying in the wind, the flowers that grow along the public bridleways and the pieces of junk or old things that have been left behind. Been in the woods is so much different to being in the city, a place to clear your mind, a place to be alone when needed. Some people who haven’t grown up around woods tend to be afraid, the woods is where I am most at peace and I’m glad that it is part of what I call home.

The Church

This church hold’s a lot of memories for me, although I am not a religious person as a young child and early teenager I attended this church (mostly not through choice). Whether it was primary school services when you’re forced to sing the songs (lip syncing the whole thing and pretending you’re not half asleep) and giving gifts to help those in need or when I was a girl guide and had to attend the services being a flag holder. This church reminds me of my childhood and home as I have so many memories even if they are not always good ones.

The Local Pub (Half Moon)

From applying to being rejected for a job here when I turned 16 to my dad picking me up from nursery on the back of his push bike on a lunch time and taking me here, this pub is in the centre of my home town, it stands proudly next to the old bus station down the road from my primary school. This is a daily sight for me when I visit home, the memories it holds to the overly priced alcoholic beverages I can buy today. A couple of drinks down the local with old school friends is what makes this place feel like home to me.
